About Five Star Mexican American

When you’re exploring Akron, Colorado, and craving a satisfying meal with plenty of variety, Five Star Mexican American at 85 Main Ave is well worth a stop. This local restaurant combines bold Mexican flavors with familiar American comfort food, giving you an easygoing dining option for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Whether you want a hearty burrito, a classic burger, or a plate of enchiladas, you’ll find a menu designed to please both adventurous diners and picky eaters.

As soon as you step inside, you’re welcomed by a relaxed, small-town atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy your meal. The dining room feels casual and family-friendly rather than formal, so you can visit for a quick bite, a laid-back family dinner, or a convenient meal while traveling through northeastern Colorado. Friendly service and a straightforward setting add to the restaurant’s approachable charm.

If you arrive in the morning, consider starting with one of the breakfast burritos, which offers a filling combination of eggs, meat, potatoes, and Mexican-inspired flavor. You can also keep things traditional with pancakes, bacon, and other American breakfast favorites. Portions are generous, making breakfast here a practical choice when you need enough food to carry you through a busy day.

For lunch or dinner, the Mexican American fusion becomes even more noticeable. A Mexican-style burger topped with jalapeños, guacamole, or other Southwestern ingredients delivers the richness of a classic cheeseburger with an extra layer of spice. Tacos are another dependable option when you want something flavorful but easy to customize. If you prefer a more comforting entrée, try the enchiladas, especially if you enjoy warm tortillas, savory fillings, melted cheese, and a sauce with moderate heat.

You’ll also appreciate that the menu offers enough range for groups with different cravings. One person can order Mexican food while another chooses a burger, breakfast plate, or familiar American dish. This flexibility makes Five Star Mexican American particularly convenient for families, road-trippers, and local diners who want multiple choices without visiting a chain restaurant.

Prices appear suited to a casual neighborhood eatery, and the large portions can provide good value, especially when you arrive hungry. Service is often described as friendly and efficient, though visiting outside the busiest meal periods may help you enjoy a faster, quieter experience.

Five Star Mexican American shows you that memorable dining in Colorado isn’t limited to major cities. With its convenient Main Avenue location, welcoming hospitality, generous servings, and creative mix of Mexican and American cuisine, this Akron restaurant offers a flavorful and reliable stop for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

We had a good lunch here, but the service felt a little off. We stood at the front door, not sure if we should seat ourselves. After a minute or two we grabbed a table but no one came over so I went to the bar and let them know. We ordered, ate, but no one ever stopped by to check on us or top off our drinks. The food was decent, but might try another place if we get through here again.

From the outside the restaurant looks small and old, then you go in and it is spacious and inviting. You seat yourself and someone immediately welcomes you with a big smile and a menu. I have dietary restrictions and they were able to abide by them (if you have restrictions call first, I did). Table had all the necessary hot sauces and condiments. I ordered the Breakfast Special: 2 eggs, 2 sausage, hash browns and toast, done right and very delicious. My husband had the Breakfast Burrito (not smothered) with eggs, bacon & potatoes. Absolutely delicious! Our appetites were absolutely satisfied and the price was Excellent! Will definitely eat here again!

Absolutely OUTSTANDING !!! It was one of the most unexpected restaurant experiences I've ever had. Quaint little area, reminiscent of an old industrial ghost town. The restaurant does not stand out from the surrounding buildings very much, and if you didn't find it via maps, or if you blink when you go through the intersection, you would never know it's there. When I walked through the door, it was a bit shocking, as the interior is massive compared to the appearance of the exterior, and the interior design and craftsmanship are very well executed throughout 👏. The food was incredibly delicious, I had a bacon, egg, cheese, and potato burrito, dry (not smothered). I believe they skillet fried the potatoes, eggs and bacon together, in perfect proportions I might add, wrapped it up, cheddar on top, threw it back it the pan for as much, or little, melty goodness you want with each bite, EXCELLENT! My buddy got the biscuits and gravy and a stack of French toast, he said everything was great, and coming from him, that means a lot, even more astounding, after we had finished eating, he stated, "That's probably the best French toast I've ever had." I've never heard such high compliments from him about anyone's cooking except his own. 😀 The meals are huge, neither one of us was able to finish, but our appetites were MORE THAN SATISFIED! The prices are ridiculously inexpensive, we visited this BEAUTIFUL establishment, got EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE and really, honestly, ENJOYED a meal for less than we pay on a daily to most of the available fast food stops and didn't spend any significant amount more time than we do... on the daily. To wrap it up, this place has it all and in the BEST ways. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!! Tastes better than country cookin', 😋, didn't know it could! Thank you, 5 STAR and staff, I will be returning often, and I can't wait for my wife to experience

I was here in town for two days and ate here for 3 consecutive meals. Probably would have been 2 more times had we tried it first. Loved it all!
